Women’s Soccer: Leila Karam Joins the Bleu et Or

Forward Leila Karam is set to play for the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues in the 2021–2022 Atlantic University Sport season.

A native of Laval, Leila, who stands 5’8”, currently plays for the AAA Braves d’Ahuntsic. She plans to pursue studies in the kinesiology program next year. She was recruited in collaboration with the Braves d’Ahuntsic club, which is led by Elmehdi Taha, a former Aigle Bleu.

“Leila Karam could not be more enthusiastic about soccer,” stated Taha. “Throughout her years with the Braves d’Ahuntsic, where she moved up through the U16AAA and U17AAA teams, she has shown discipline and strong personal commitment. Leila is one of the best strikers in her age group. She is known for her impressive technique as well as her generosity on the field. She is also a leader off the field. Leila will be a major asset for the Aigles Bleues.”

“We’ve been watching Leila for the past two years or more, and she has shown that she is a skilled striker who can also play multiple roles within our play structure,” explained Aigles Bleues coach Mehyar Zekaroui. “Leila’s greatest strengths are her natural technique, her intuition for positioning and her creativity when it comes to eliminating opponents and creating power play opportunities within scoring range. Leila is also a young woman who demonstrates outstanding leadership skills both on and off the field, which is perfectly aligned to Aigles Bleues values.”

“Right now I’m living my dream, and I’m very excited about joining the outstanding Aigles Bleues family at the Université de Moncton starting next season,” said Karam. “I’ve been playing soccer since I was four, and it is and will always be my greatest passion. It’s all because of my grandfather, as he was the one who conveyed his enthusiasm for the sport to me starting at an early age and wanted so much for me to succeed. I’m going to do my best to make him proud by pushing myself as far as possible and achieving all the goals he set for me. I’m looking forward to working hard as always, because when I’m out on the field, I’m living my passion. It’s my way of expressing myself, breathing and disconnecting from the world. I’m confident that my future coaches, teammates and I are headed for some major successes together! My goal is to use my values and soccer background to help take the team as far as possible and win multiple championships.”
