Message concerning the recent dramatic events in Nova Scotia
The Université de Moncton is greatly saddened by the tragedy that occurred in Nova Scotia this past weekend. This deadliest mass shooting in Canada’s history stirs up painful memories for the people of Moncton.
Many members of our university community are from Nova Scotia. Some of them may have lost a loved one or may have friends or relatives who have been affected by these traumatic events.
On behalf of its entire community, the Université de Moncton extends sincerest condolences to the families and friends of the many victims, who include Cst. Heidi Stevenson, who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting her fellow citizens.
The Université de Moncton also expresses deep gratitude to the RCMP members and all others who stepped forward to help in an extremely dangerous and volatile situation.
Flags on all three campuses of the Université de Moncton will be lowered to half-mast for one week in mourning and solidarity.
