Hockey Aigles Bleus to Host Reds Wednesday

A second matchup this season between the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus and the University of New Brunswick (UNB) Reds will happen on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey.

The Bleu et Or (3-3-2=8 points, 5th position) is off a two-game winning streak and will build on that to play well against the Reds (6-2-0=12 points, 2nd position), who won their last outing. UNB did blank the Bleu et Or with a score of 4-0 on October 11 in the capital.

“We need to get ready like we did the last two games because it is important for our confidence,” stated Moncton coach Judes Vallée. “UNB is always a challenge for us and other teams in the league. We did win against them at home last season, and we plan on giving our fans a gift again. We do have a .500 record now, even if we have a lot of things to work on. It is a question of team chemistry and confidence. The fact that Maxime St-Cyr began scoring is a big plus for us. Other players have also broken the ice. We must go to the net and play better in our zone.”

“This is a big rivalry game, and we are getting ready for the event,” Maxime St-Cyr said. “We are continuing our progression. We must play a full 60 minutes, beginning from the first whistle. It was nice to find my magic scoring touch. I was able to get rid of a block and score. I did have a few chances, but the puck did not go in the net. I kept on being positive and I hope it will continue. The Reds have a speedy and physical team. We cannot let them be assertive and we should be successful.”

Three injured players will miss the game, Alexis Thibaudeau, Gabriel Vanier and Danick Crète. Étienne Montpetit will be between the pipes.
