Men’s Hockey: Aigles Bleus Face Reds Friday

The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (1-2-1=3 points, 6th position) have lost their last three outings, and the next game could be a challenge as they face the University of New Brunswick Reds (1-1-0=2 points, 7th position) in Fredericton, on Friday, in an Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey game.

In the last few years, rarely have we seen the Reds in last place. These Canadian champions from last season have only played two games thus far. Moncton did suffer a 4-1 loss on Wednesday and has only had one practice before the next game.

“There is frustration and a lack of confidence on our part,” Moncton coach Judes Vallée said. “We need to look in the mirror. The video will show us some obvious moves that stand to be corrected. We will come back strong as we have in the past. Against the Reds, we will play one period at a time. We did beat Acadia and that team upended the Reds.”

Defencemen Olivier Desjardins was able to describe the sentiment of his teammates. “We need to regroup and work on our strong points,” he said. “Just one goal at the opportune time may make a difference. It is important to score and not just shoot on goal. Defensively, we must play tighter, be quick and not allow as many shots on goal. We also need to limit the number of rebounds against Montpetit.”

Starting at 7 p.m., the game will be broadcast on AUStv.ca and on Codiac-FM radio.
