Sophie Black and Jean-Michel Dako are Université de Moncton Athletes of the Week
Runner Sophie Black, of Dieppe, and soccer player Jean-Michel Dako, of Moncton, were chosen as athletes of the week for the period from September 30 to October 6, 2019, by the Université de Moncton Athletic Department.Sophie Black finished in 5th place at the Acadia University cross-country race in Wolfville, on Saturday, in a time of 24 minutes. Two weeks ago, she was 9th with a span of 1:08 behind the winner. Saturday, she reduced the difference to 40 seconds against the same winning athlete on a tougher course. She is a nutrition student.
The Aigles Bleus collected three points on the weekend with a 2-0 win over the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers in men’s soccer on Saturday. Jean-Michel Dako played 69 minutes, scored the winning goal and took four shots on goal. He was a leader in the field and chosen Subway player of the game. He is a business administration-finance student.
