Major Donation Toward Establishment of Centre de leadership Frank McKenna – L’alUMni

A major $1 million donation from the Honourable Frank McKenna, former Premier of New Brunswick, to the Evolution Fundraising Campaign of the Université de Moncton, will enable the establishment of the Centre de leadership Frank McKenna – L’alUMni.

The Centre de leadership Frank McKenna – L’alUMni is an innovative initiative involving the development and delivery of an ambitious program to assist students in acquiring essential leadership skills with a view to becoming active, engaged leaders and citizens.

Participants will be recruited from among students that stand out for their motivation, dedication and academic performance across all study programs, disciplines, faculties and campuses.

“The Université de Moncton is a cornerstone of the New Brunswick economy and a pillar of Acadian language and culture, ” said the Honourable Frank McKenna. “The nourishment of future leaders is essential to both these missions.”

“The Université de Moncton aspires to prepare the leaders of tomorrow in terms of civic engagement and entrepreneurship,” stated Jacques Paul Couturier, Interim President and Vice-Chancellor of the Université de Moncton. “Graduates of the Centre de leadership Frank McKenna – L’alUMni will be ready to play an active role in the development of New Brunswick and the rest of Canada. Upon entering the workforce, they will stand out for their entrepreneurial culture and openness to the world as well as their economically and socially innovative outlook.”

L’alUMni, the alumni association of the Université de Moncton and proponent of the project to establish a centre for student leadership, is pleased to move forward with this rewarding partnership.

“We are delighted to be co-partners in this initiative to equip students with the tools they need to reach their fullest leadership potential and make a positive contribution to society,” noted L’alUMni President Marc-Antoine Chiasson.

The Evolution Fundraising Campaign aims to enrich the student experience and support excellence in research and innovation at the Université de Moncton, which strives to use the funds raised to implement transformative projects that benefit its students as well as Acadian society and society as a whole.
