Forward Allain Saulnier, of the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus hockey team, has been named on U Sports national men’s hockey team that will play against Canada’s National Junior Team. The junior team will play in the 41st International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship at the end of December in Toronto and Montreal.

The U Sports and Atlantic University Sport top point getter, Allain Saulnier, is very happy to get the chance to play with the U Sports team. His twin brother, Alex, got the chance to play last year in the first series between the two teams.

The other AUS players include goaltender Corbin Bowes, of Dalhousie Tigers; Jordan Murray and Philippe Maillet, of UNB Varsity Reds; Geoff Schemitsch, of Acadia Axemen; and Holden Cook, of St. Francis Xavier. StFX coach Brad Peddle will also be assistant with the team.

"I am very excited to be part of this team" stated Allain Saulnier. "My brother went last year and all things were positive and quite an experience. I am looking forward to live it myself. It will be interesting to play the top junior age players in Canada. They are younger than we are and it should be exciting. I will have an added bonus while watching the World Juniors on Boxing Day as I will have played against these guys. I am looking forward to the games."

"I am happy for Allain. He will have a positive impact on this team," coach Serge Bourgeois said. "His brother Alex was a key player last year with a few goals. Allain is a great ambassador for our team."

Saulnier will join his team mates on December 11 and practice in time for the games to be played in Blainville-Boisbriand, Quebec, on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 12 and 13.
