Caroline Gagnon and Samuel Bourque are UMoncton athletes of the week
Two track and field athletes, including a silver medallist at the U SPORTS Canadian Track and Field Championships, Caroline Gagnon of Moncton and Samuel Bourque of Notre-Dame-de-Kent, New Brunswick, are the IRM Moncton MRI athletes of the week from March 6 to 12, 2023 as chosen by the Athletic Department of the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton.
Caroline Gagnon finished13th at the U SPORTS Track and Field Championships on Friday in the 60m hurdles in a time of 9.03 seconds. It was her career’s second-fastest time. She is ranked 13th by U SPORTS and first in AUS, having won the gold medal two weeks ago at the Atlantic conference. She is a first-year medical student.
Samuel Bourque surprised by winning the silver medal and second place in the shot put at the U SPORTS championships on Saturday. He realized a throw of 16.40 m, the second-best performance of his university career. He is ranked 3rd nationally and first in the AUS in shot put. He is a third-year student in business administration - finance (co-op).
