Women’s Volleyball: An Albertan with the Aigles Bleues
Zoryanna Kahanyshyn-Fontaine, a young athlete from Edmonton, Alberta, will join the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues for the next Atlantic University Sport women’s volleyball season.
The Franco-Albertan will pursue a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in biology. She has been playing with the Sharks Volleyball Club U18. She measures 5′7″ and is a striker.
She is completing her third season at Edmonton’s Austin O’Brien High School team. The athlete wanted to pursue her studies in French while playing the sport that captivates her. “After completing my high school in an English program, I realized that I needed to continue studying in French,” she said. “My strengths on the court are my leadership, my efficient communication and my work ethics.” After completing her grades one to nine in French at école Joseph-Moreau, she decided to switch to the English school because of the volleyball program.
“I am impressed with her passion on the court,” stated Moncton coach Monette Boudreau-Carroll. “She will leave her mark on our program in the next few years.”
