Edmundston Truck Stop, located on the territory of the Madawaska Maliseet First Nation,
has made a $25,000 contribution to the Evolution Fundraising Campaign of the
Université de Moncton.
This donation will be used to establish the
Fonds de bourses Edmundston Truck Stop. Through this fund, scholarships will be
awarded annually to students enrolled full-time on the Edmundston campus and belonging to
any of the following categories: women, Aboriginal, a visible minority or having a
handicap.
Located one kilometre from the Edmundston campus, the businesses
managed by Edmundston Truck Stop, founded in 2013, benefit from the constant flow of
traffic generated by the nearby presence of the postsecondary educational institution.
Above all, however, owner Vicki Wallace-Godbout recognizes the value and impact of the
Université de Moncton everywhere across New Brunswick, particularly in the
province’s northwest. A graduate of the Bachelor of Law program at the
Université de Moncton, Ms. Wallace-Godbout is also a member of the
Evolution Fundraising Campaign cabinet.
