Mélodie Arsenault from Acadieville, New Brunswick; Pascale Lebeau from Louiseville, Québec; Alexia Desforges from Clarence-Rockland, Ontario; Rose-Aly Langlois from Montréal, Québec; and Catherine Longchamps from Red Deer, Alberta, will be joining the Bleu et Or line-up.
Last year Mélodie Arsenault, 18, was a goalie with the Kent Centre Midget AA Bears. Her goals-against average was 2.0. “I’ve dreamed for a long time of playing this calibre of hockey and continuing to grow and reach my next goal,” she said. “I’m good at covering the angles.” Mélodie will be studying Recreation, Sports and Tourism Management.
Pascale Lebeau, 19, played defense with the Collège Lionel-Groulx Nordiques. She had two goals and three assists for a total of five points in 24 games. “Right away I loved the atmosphere on the team and with the coaches,” she said. “I wanted to change leagues. I’d been playing in the RSEQ since Pee Wee level. I’m a good skater and I’m good at seeing the big picture.” Pascale is enrolled in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
Rose-Aly Langlois, 20, is a forward who just finished her season with the Cégep André-Laurendeau Boomerangs. She had four assists in 20 matchs. “I chose the Aigles Bleues so that I could live my university experience in a good environment,” she indicated. “My aim is to excel physically and academically and especially to improve at hockey. I think that the Aigles will be able to help me to reach my objectives. I have good speed and good approaches and I’m responsible defensively.” She is enrolled in Psychology.
Catherine Longchamps, 20, played defense for the Red Deer College Queens. In 24 games she had a total of one goal and eight assists, for nine points. “Hockey has always been my first love and I want to keep playing while I’m at school,” Longchamps noted. “It’s very important for me. I was really intrigued by the possibility of continuing my education in French in Moncton. After I visited the campus and met the team, I knew that this was where I wanted to play next year. My strengths on the ice are my defensive game, my work ethic and my shooting.” She will be studying Education (majoring in Math).
Alexia Desforges, 17, is a forward who played for the Nepean Wildcats. “I’m a good skater and a good shooter,” she said. “I can score.” She is enrolled in Kinesiology.
“These five promising players can have a significant effect with our Aigles Bleues in their very first season,” indicated coach Marc-André Côté. “I look forward to see them on the ice in September.”
