Gilles C. Roy Appointed Vice-President, Academic and Research
In his new position, Mr. Roy will be responsible for the administration, coordination and development of academics and research for the entire Université system. He succeeds André Samson, who has held the post since 2014.
“I’m delighted to welcome Mr. Roy to our university’s management team,” said interim President and Vice-Chancellor, Jacques Paul Couturier. “His career path up to now shows a rich and varied university experience. Mr. Roy has an in-depth knowledge of the university environment, as he has been a professor, Vice-Dean and then Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. I’m certain that he will be enthusiastic in fulfilling his new responsibilities.”
During his career, Mr. Roy has participated in many committees at the Université de Moncton. These include the Labour Relations Labour-Management Committee, the Faculty Observatory Joint Advisory Committee, the Instructional Administrative Assessment Joint Committee and the Promotion and Tenure Labour-Management Committee.
Mr. Roy’s peers have recognized his contribution to the engineering profession by awarding him the title of Fellow of Engineers Canada
Mr. Roy holds a Doctor in Mechanical Engineering degree from Université Laval (1997), as well as a Master of Applied Sciences (1992) and a Bachelor of Applied Sciences (1990) from the Université de Moncton.
