Volleyball: Aigles Bleues Play Two Weekend Games
The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (3-9=6 points, 5th position) play two important weekend games in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) women’s volleyball action. The results will have a definite impact on whether the Aigles Bleues qualify or not for the AUS end of the season championship. Friday, they host Acadia University Axewomen (9-3=18 points, 2nd position) at 7 p.m. at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud gymnasium on the Moncton campus. They travel to Fredericton on Saturday to meet the University of New Brunswick Reds (5-6=10 points, 4th position). Moncton is presently four points behind UNB with eight games left to play. They hold the 4th and final playoff spot.
Aigles Bleues coach Monette Boudreau-Carroll expects contested games this weekend. “Friday’s game will be a challenge, but we do play well against Acadia and we could surprise them,” Boudreau-Carroll said. “Their team has more experience than ours. We need to continue our learning process. UNB is playing better every day with the return of some experienced players. Anything is possible. There will not be an easy weekend until the end of the schedule.”
