Forty-six student athletes honoured for U SPORTS academic achievements
Student athletes honoured for U SPORTS academic achievements accompanied by Edgar Robichaud, vice-president, Administration and Human Resources, André Samson, vice-president, Academic and Research, Jacques Paul Couturier, interim president and vice-chancellor, and Marc Boudreau, athletic director.

The student athletes maintained an academic average of 3.7 or more during the 2017-2018 competitive season. Interim president and vice chancellor, Jacques Paul Couturier, commended them for their dedication and abilities in academics and sports sectors. Administration and Human Resources vice-president, Edgar Robichaud, Academic and Research vice president, André Samson, and athletic director, Marc Boudreau, acknowledged the many sacrifices made by those students to achieve in both sectors.
The 46 student athletes are:
• Track and field: Jean-Luc Bastarache, Moncton; Alain Doucet and Rémy Goguen, Dieppe; Mia Schofield and Isabelle Morris, Miramichi; Karen Farag, Summerside; François Poirier, Grand-Barachois; and Christian Richard, Moncton.
• Men’s hockey: Danick Emond, Terrebonne; Marc-Anthony Therrien, Bécancour; Alexi Thibaudeau, Calgary; Jean-Sébastien Fournier, Sainte-Claire; Joey Richard, Dieppe; Jason Rioux, Moncton; and Brandon Thibeau, Riverview.
• Women’s hockey: Marie-Pier Corriveau, Magog; Sarah-Ève Mailhot, Repentigny; Brittany Poitras, Saint-André; Janie Poitras, New Maryland; Julie Thériault, Kedgwick; Natacha Ireland, Moncton; and Sabrina Lebrun, Lévy.
• Cross-country: Nassim Bousmaha, Algeria; Myriam Cyr, Moncton; Josiane Guay, Edmundston; and December Sampson, Maitland.
• Men’s soccer: Alex Laperrière and Louis Bergeron, Québec; Thomas Maillet, Moncton; and Tarik Nait Ajjou, Dieppe.
• Women’s soccer: Adèle Cormier, Grand-Barachois; Alexandra Duguay, Shippagan; Natalie Fleming and Renée Gauvin, Moncton; Marilou Larocque, Sainte-Marie-Saint-Raphaël; Alexie LeBlanc, Jessica Bohnet, Alexandra Maltais, Julie Gaudet and Dania Boudreau, Dieppe; Catherine Dupuis, Saint-Mathias; Céleste Gaudet, Fredericton; Katrine LeBlanc, Saint-Hubert; and Emilie Naugle, Grand-Barachois.
• Women’s volleyball: Pascale Doiron, Dieppe; and Télia Gaudet, Aldouane.
Many people were present for the recognition reception held at the Bar Le Coude, in the student union building on the Moncton campus.
