Eight recruits with hockey Aigles Bleues
Competition for spots on the Université de Moncton women’s hockey Aigles Bleues roster will be fierce come September at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena for the Atlantic University Sport season as at least 8 rookies will take to the ice.Three forward players, Aude Massé, of Val d’Or, Isadora Quirion, of St-Gédéon en Beauce, both with the Collège Champlain Cougars, and Kiana Verbiwski, of Noelville, Ontario, who played with the Sudbury Ladys wolfe, will all push the present players for a spot on the team.
Three recruited defencemen are Cassandra Call, of Ottawa, Émilie Lalancette, of Cornwall, both with the Ottawa Lady 67, and Breanna Stewart, of Aldouane, who played with the Moncton Rockets AAA midget, are also expected be in attendance.
Goaltenders Audrey Berthiaume, of St-Bruno and from Collège Édouard Mont-Petit, and Mélika Florent, of Rockland, who played with Ottawa Ladys Sens of the PWHL, are expected to battle for a spot on the team.
“These young girls all have a chance to battle for a spot on the team,”, said former coach and head of recruiting, Denis Ross. “Four players from last season will not be back and a healthy competition will be in force for all positions.”
