AUS Track and Field Championships attract over 200 athletes

Over 200 athletes from nine universities are expected to compete in this annual rendezvous. The public gets to see the top track and field athletes in the Atlantic provinces. There will be athletes from Acadia, Dalhousie, Memorial, Moncton, Saint Mary's, St. Francis Xavier, St. Thomas, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island universities.
Moncton coach Steve LeBlanc is looking forward to seeing his athletes in action. “We have been practicing for six months for this competition,” LeBlanc said. “Our team is looking to win 12 medals, and qualify three athletes for the U SPORTS Championships. The women team is aiming for a top three finish, and the men, a top four.”
Potential medalist Aigles athletes are Alain Doucet, Constance Gilman, Isabelle Morris, Jean-Luc Bastarache and Rachelle Haché. Julien Léger, Sharon Ngongo and the men 4X400m relay team also have a good chance.
Université de Moncton will be represented by 31 athletes: Myriam Cyr, Sophie Duguay, Karen Farag, Constance Gilman, Josiane Guay, Laurence Guitard, Émilie Guthrie, Rachelle Haché, Megan Kingston, Monika LeBlanc, Jessika Lepage, Isabel Morris, Sharon Ngongo, Lisa Richard, Pascale Richard, Tiffany Rinuit, December Sampson, Mia Schofield, Jean-Luc Bastarache, Nassim Bousmaha, Alexandre David, Shayne Dobson, Alain Doucet, Rémy Goguen, Christian Haché, Julien Léger, Frédéric Losier, Christian Richard, Samuel Robichaud, Bryan Thomas and Emmanuel Zangio.
