Volleyball Aigles Bleues meet Varsity Reds
The young team, coached by Monette Boudreau-Carroll, is eager to begin the regular season. The Aigles lost in the bronze medal game of last season’s AUS championship against the Saint Mary’s Huskies. The team took fourth position in the final standings with a 9-11 record, for 18 points. UNB was 6th, at 3-17.
“This is our first game of the year and we have not seen the Varsity Reds play at all,” stated Moncton coach Monette Boudreau Carroll. “I will take advantage of the game to evaluate their team and my players. We are heading to Fredericton for a win and put the emphasis on our play. All players are available. We want to build our team chemistry and impose our play on the court.”
Middle player Émilie Landry is looking forward to this game in her hometown. “After all these weeks of practices, it sure is nice to get a chance to play,” said Landry, of MacLeod Hill, near Fredericton. “We have not seen the Reds this season, so we will get to know their roster and how the team has developed. We have five rookies in our lineup so we need to learn to play together and develop our team strategy and our plays.”
The Bleu et Or did play four games in a pre-season tournament at McGill University two weeks ago.
The game may be seen on AUStv.ca.
