Hockey Aigles Bleus host Huskies on Friday
The Aigles Bleus will host Saint Mary’s University Huskies (1-3-0=2pts, 6th position) on Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena. Both teams have an identical record. Saturday, the Aigles Bleus will hit the road to Wolfville for a duel with the Acadia University Axemen (2-2-0=4pts, 5th position), at 7 p.m.
''We expect to work hard and match the Huskies and Axemen intensity on the ice,'' Moncton coach Serge Bourgeois said. ''We will also need to make the plays in order to win. Last Saturday’s win was a boost of confidence for the team. The players want to win and they know the pressure is constant. We held very intense practices this week to be ready and I hope the intensity continues during the two weekend games.''
Marc-Anthony Therrien scored twice in the overtime Saturday win and he indicates the team is feeling a boost of energy following three straight defeats. ''We had a feeling of revenge last Saturday because the Panthers had beaten us in our home opener,'' Therrien said. ''We have learned from the victory and we are ready to rebound this weekend. The points are important in the standings to qualify for the playoffs. We did come back twice last Saturday and we know we can do it. We cannot abandon after we get scored on. It would be nice to score first this weekend, for a change.''
Mathieu Martin is on the injured list and will miss the games. Goaltender Brandon Thibeau will get the nod for both games.
