Hockey Aigles Bleus play Varsity Reds on Friday
This is the first of two home and home games, the Reds coming to Moncton next week. The Aigles Bleus began their season last Wednesday, in Moncton, with an offensive punch in the third period and five goals in the game. Coach Serge Bourgeois wants to bring changes to the defensive side of the game, for the match.
''Our aim is to play better defensively,'' Bourgeois stated. ''We gave up too many scoring chances and turnovers in the neutral zone. We cannot do that against teams like UNB. I will have the same lineup unless Justin Guénette or Mathieu Bernier can play.''
Goaltender Brandon Thibeau will get the call for his second game and the lineup should be similar, although minor changes could be done. ''We had a nice comeback in the third period and we will build on that,'' Bourgeois added. ''Our first trio scored, now we need a better defensive strategy in the neutral zone. I also expect a better offensive output by our other lines.''
''We need to regroup following that game since this is the beginning of the season,'' added team cocaptain, Allain Saulnier, who recorded five assists in the first game. ''We have more responsibilities on the ice and all players need to contribute their share. Nothing will be easy, our defensive game needs work. We have to be more efficient in the neutral zone and not allow turnovers.''
