New Brunswick is a province with a high variability in intra-annual water availability ranging from droughts to floods. Much of New Brunswick depends on surface and ground water for domestic, municipal, industrial and agricultural uses. Climate change acts as an amplifier of the already-intense competition over water resources. With increasing demand on water resources, floods, water shortage, and water environmental degradation have become serious threats to water security in the province.
