Research

The research at the Climatic and Hydroscience Lab focuses mainly on the following themes:

  • Stream temperature dynamics, river water temperature modeling and the thermal regime of rivers
  • A better understanding of floods and droughts through frequency analyses and regional studies both under a historical climate and under climate change
  • The Catamaran Brook Habitat Research Project, a multidisciplinary program that addresses fundamental research related to fish habitat, river hydrology and hydraulics, fish population dynamics, etc.
  • Studies related to instream flow requirements for the protection of aquatic habitat in rivers subject to water withdrawals
  • The project FACE is a Canada / Africa initiative to study the impact of climate change on water resources and human populations.
  • Small catchment hydrology for the design of hydraulics structures (e.g., dams, culverts, etc.), where the research focuses on rainfall-runoff relationships (e.g., peaks flows)
  • Water security concept, water availability, water management
  • Hydrometric network rationalization, hierarchical classification, entropy method
