Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues coach Marc-André Côté is pleased to announce that two players, Elizabeth Galipeau of Bedford, and Marie-Soleil Simard of Wendake, Québec, have signed the U SPORTS letter of intent to suite up with his women’s hockey team for the upcoming Atlantic University Sport season.

Marie-Soleil Simard, 20 years old, is 5 feet 3 inches tall and is originally from Wendake, Quebec. She played for the Drummondville Voltigeurs Cégep at the Division 2 women's level.

“I wish to continue my hockey career at the university level and especially with the Aigles Bleues because it's a good program and a great family,” she said. “I want to improve throughout my journey with the Aigles and become an impact player. I want to be able to make a difference.”

Simard has been playing hockey for 16 years and her strengths are her mobility and ability to play. She wants to improve her offensive game with a better puck control and shots. She is registered in the Business Administration-Accounting Program. She also plays soccer and dek hockey for fun.

Elisabeth Galipeau is 20 years old and is 5 feet 5 inches tall and originally from Bedford, Quebec. She played with the Cégep André-Laurendeau Boomerang team of the division 1 RSEQ college league. “I chose the Aigles Bleues because of their values and potential,” she indicated. “I believe I will be valued on this team. It’s an opportunity I could not pass up. I want to bring depth to the organization by using my offensive skills.”

Galipeau hopes to get a role on the team and her goals are to give 100 per cent at every presence and not regret her efforts. She has been playing hockey for 5 years and indicates she had good skills, a vision of the game, hockey sense and perseverance. She hopes to improve consistency in her game, make quick decisions, improve her skating, and create more space. She will pursue studies in nutrition.
