Five Convocation Ceremonies and the Installation of the President and Vice-Chancellor
The Université de Moncton will award nearly 1,000 diplomas and certificates to graduating students, as well as eight honorary degrees to distinguished individuals who have made outstanding contributions in their respective fields. In addition, an installation ceremony for the 10th President and Vice-chancellor, Dr. Denis Prud'homme, will take place on each campus.
The first convocation will be held at the Shippagan campus on Friday, May 19, where Chancellor Louise Imbeault will present an Honorary Doctor of Health degree to Dr. Jennifer Russell.
The second ceremony will occur at the Edmundston campus on Saturday, May 20. For this occasion, the chancellor will present an honorary doctorate in literature to Serge Patrice Thibodeau. Nicole Lang and Jacques-Paul Couturier will be promoted to the ranks of professor and administrator emeritus respectively.
The following ceremonies will take place on Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27 on the Moncton campus. The May 26 ceremony will feature the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Faculty of Education. Jean-Luc Bélanger will receive an honorary doctorate in community service.
On May 27, the first ceremony will celebrate graduates from the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Sciences, and the Faculty of Health Sciences and Community Services. The Honourable J.C. Marc Richard will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree. The university will also congratulate two new professors emeritus, Donald Poirier in law and Truong Vo-Van in physics.
The second ceremony on May 27 will honour graduates from the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, the Faculty of Administration and the Faculty of Engineering. The installation of the 10th president and vice-chancellor, Dr. Denis Prud'homme, will be celebrated at this time.
