Caroline Gagnon and Max Mazerolle are the athletes of the week

Two track and field athletes who stood out this weekend, Caroline Gagnon, of Moncton, and Max Mazerolle, of Cocagne, New Brunswick, are the IRM Moncton MRI athletes of the week from February 20 to 26, 2023 as chosen by Athletic Department of the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton.

Caroline Gagnon distinguished herself at the Atlantic University Sport Track and Field Championships by winning a gold medal in the 60m hurdles in a time of 9 seconds. This is a Université de Moncton record for this discipline and also a New Brunswick record. She was also a member of the 4X200m and 4X400m relay teams. She qualified for the U SPORTS Canadian Track and Field Championships in two weeks. She is a 1st year medical student.

Max Mazerolle was named the Most Valuable Male Athlete at the AUS Track and Field Championships this weekend in Saint John. He won three gold medals in heptathlon, 60m hurdles and pole vault. He was very busy with 10 events in two days, including 7 at the heptathlon. He was5th in the triple jump. He also qualified for the U SPORTS Canadian Championship. He is a second-year kinesiology student.
