The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (5-14=10pts, 5th position) will play their last match of the regular season in an Atlantic University Sport volleyball game on Friday by hosting the University of New Brunswick Reds (8-11=16pts, 4th position) at 7 p.m. at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud gymnasium on the Moncton campus.

Joline Richard's team is eliminated from the year-end playoffs by finishing in5th position in the final ranking. The Reds will enter the playoffs with their fourth position.

Joanie Arsenault will play her last game in the blue and gold uniform. It will be an emotional evening for her and two other graduates. “I'm going to end my volleyball university career and I'm going to go through all kinds of emotions,” she said. “It will be a bit sad because I've been playing with several of these players for years. It will break my heart, but I also want us to be able to enjoy this last game to the fullest together. We want to come out with a win for our three veterans who will graduate and we are capable.”

Arseneault and the other team members appreciate the support of the fans. “They give us a lot of energy, especially in extended rallies,” she added. “These rallies are exhausting and their energy has a very big impact on our game. For us to win on Friday, we need aggressiveness in our serves and attack with good receptions. We must not be discouraged when the rallies last a long time and we must play harder when the ball comes on our side of the net.”

For her part, coach Joline Richard, who is completing her second season, also wants her team to end its season in style with a victory. “Every game is important in our development and this one is no different,” said coach Joline Richard. “We are looking for an improvement; we want to perform well, and we are looking for a victory.”

A recognition ceremony for three Aigles Bleues players will take place prior to the start of the game. Ivana Urquhart-Mladineo is 9th in the individual AUS points standings with 164.5. Moncton has an average of 9.18 kills and 17.38 digs per set.
