Playoff time is always an exciting time for Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus fans and the wait ends Wednesday as the team travels to Charlottetown to face the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers in the first game of the Atlantic University Sport quarterfinal best of 3 series.

These two teams played intense matches during the season with close scores, a difference of 1 to 3 goals. However, the Panthers have won 4 of the 5 games between these two clubs. The Panthers finished third in the final standings and the Aigles Bleus sixth.

For team captain, Vincent Deslauriers, “during the season, we were good at times. We need to play 60 minutes in the playoffs. The mindset is different, we must play hard every time we are on the ice. This is my last season; I want to finish on a high note and go as far as possible. We have a good gang of guys and I want to have a great experience to finish my university career. To the guys, I tell them to play your game and do it for the guys who finish this year. It's emotional to play our last games, but I'm going to give my best.”

“It's a new season that begins and we have to take advantage of our chances now,” added coach Derek Cormier. “We made some adjustments, and we hope to have better second periods. You have to play 60 minutes in the playoffs to be successful.”

The second game will be played Friday at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque arena. People can buy tickets at the CEPS reception during the day or at the arena box office one hour before the game. The game can be viewed at AUStv.ca. A third game, if needed, will be Sunday in Charlottetown.
