The Louisbourg Choir, under the direction of Monique Richard, is preparing a concert showcasing the musical and literary work of Acadian and New Brunswick artists. The program will be presented during a mini-tour of southern New Brunswick in preparation for a recording project with the Halifax-based production company Leaf Music next March. The concerts will be presented on Saturday, March 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Wilmot United Church in Fredericton, and on Sunday, March 12, at 7:00 p.m. at Mount Royal United Church in Moncton.

The project, entitled Canadian Tapestry with Colours of Acadia, is the continuation of the Mosaïque canadienne virtual mini-concert that the choir broadcast on its YouTube channel in 2021, when its public concerts were on hiatus due to the pandemic. The proposed program will feature texts by Herménégilde Chiasson, Raymond Guy LeBlanc and Emma Haché, set to music by Frédéric Chiasson, Richard Gibson, Jean-François Mallet, Mathieu Lussier and Aaron Jensen. New works by Rachel Léger, Carl Philippe Gionet and Richard Gibson will be premiered as part of this project. Compositions by James Fogarty, Jeff Enns, and Timothy Corlis, as well as arrangements of traditional pieces by Seán Dagher and Donald Patriquin, will complete the program.

The Louisbourg Choir will be joined by five students from the Université de Moncton's Department of Music through the Experiential Learning Fund for Students (Fonds d’apprentissage expérientiel pour personnes étudiantes — FAEPE). This addition, bringing the total number of choristers to twenty, will provide the sound mass required to perform some pieces with up to eight voices.

Joining the choir for the tour and subsequent recording will be Carl Philippe Gionet on piano as well as a string quartet consisting of Lucia Rodriguez and Marie-Andrée Gaudet on violins, Robin Streb on viola, and Emily Kennedy on cello.

Tickets are $30.00 and will be available at the door. Admission is free for students.
