Anne Paquette and Denis Toner are UMoncton athletes of the week
An athlete who distinguished herself in women's volleyball and one in men's hockey, Anne Paquette of Baie-Sainte-Anne and Denis Toner of Saint-André de Madawaska, New Brunswick are the IRM Moncton MRI athletes of the week from January 30 to February 5, 2023 as chosen by the Athletic Department of the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton.
Anne Paquette was named Subway player of the game in one of the Aigles Bleues three weekend games. The team won all three against the Memorial University Sea-Hawks and rookie Anne Paquette was an important part of all 10 sets of play. She made 27 kills and registered 30 digs with 31 points while being an important player on the court. She is a first-year nursing student.
Defenseman Denis Toner contributed greatly to his team's defensive play during the Aigles Bleus two men's hockey games. He blocked shots in front of his net, made passes to launch the offense and played several minutes on the ice. He had one assist, took one shot and was +1 on Saturday and took 3 shots on Friday. He is a third-year student in business administration-general.
