The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus players hope that a two-game weekend road trip will offer them the chance to end a 7-game losing streak in Atlantic University Sport men's hockey action.

The Blue and Gold (10-11-1-0=21pts, 5th position) will travel to Wolfville on Friday to face the Acadia University Axemen (7-12-2-1-=17pts, 6th position) at 7 p.m. in a game that promises. The Saint Mary's University Huskies (14-8-0-0=28pts, 3rd position) will provide the opposition Saturday in Halifax at the same time.

The Axemen have won their last two meetings. They defeated the Blue and Gold 5-2 on November 26, the game that began the losing streak. The Huskies lost their last outing.

According to forward Alexandre Couture, “we need to bounce back. It will be necessary to show character, and everything begins in training. We worked hard and we want to prove to our fans that we are capable of coming back with good performances. We must play better defensively and have commitment. We are working on that. This week, we went back to the basics and details which marked our success at the beginning of the season. We focused on that.”

“It's another big weekend,” added coach Derek Cormier. “We know where we stand today and what we need to do. Travel can take the pressure off. We will have to play simple and go for wins. We lack consistency and some small game moments hurt us. We must play 60 minutes and with confidence. Players must play for the team.”

Mika Cyr will miss the weekend's games.
