Caroline Gagnon and Samuel Bourque are the UMoncton athletes of the week
Two athletes who distinguished themselves at the 2023 Moncton Open track and field meet on Saturday, Caroline Gagnon of Moncton and Samuel Bourque of Notre-Dame-de-Kent New Brunswick, are the IRM Moncton MRI athletes of week for January 9 to 15, 2023 as chosen by the Athletic Department of the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton.
Runner Caroline Gagnon set a competition record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.27 seconds for the first position in this event. She is currently ranked first in this category in Atlantic University Sport. She is a second-year medical education student.
Thrower Samuel Bourque earned two top finishes in throws at the competition. He sent the shot put and hammer flying in the air for distances of 15.77 m. The distance qualified him for the Canadian U SPORTS championships in early March in shot put. He is ranked first in the AUS and fourth in Canada in shot put. He is second in the AUS in hammer. He is a third-year business administration – finance (co-op) student.
