The Université de Moncton is proud to announce the creation of the NBHRF and J.-Louis Lévesque Foundation Research Chair in Precision Medicine.

Funded by the New Brunswick Health Research Foundation (NBHRF) and the J.-Louis Lévesque Foundation in the amount of $1 million over five years, the chair was initiated in September 2022. The chairholder, Dr. Louis R. Lapierre, has established his laboratory at the New Brunswick Centre for Precision Medicine.

“Our laboratory aims to understand how subcellular partitioning of proteins alters the ability of cells to survive the stress and damage associated with aging. We are also committed to discovering new drugs for cancer and diseases associated with aging,” says Dr. Louis R. Lapierre, associate professor and research chair in precision medicine.

Originally from the Lac Saint-Jean region of Quebec, Dr. Lapierre completed a BSc in biochemistry at the Université de Moncton, a PhD in biochemistry at Dalhousie University and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Sanford-Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute in La Jolla, California. Dr. Lapierre has recently been recruited by the Université de Moncton as an associate professor and holder of the NBHRF and J.-Louis Lévesque Foundation Research Chair in Precision Medicine.
