Two road weekend games for Hockey Aigles Bleues
The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (1-3=2pts,7th position) experienced the joys of a first win last week and the players are now hungry for the same fate this weekend with two road games in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey action.
The Blue and Gold will be in Halifax on Friday for the return game against the Dalhousie University Tigers (2-2-0=4pts,5th position). The first Aigles victory (4-0) was against the same team. On Saturday, Marc-André Côté's team will be in Antigonish to face the St. Francis Xavier University X-Women (2-0-1=5pts,3rd position).
These are games against better ranked teams, so they will make it possible to climb in the rankings.
“I expect a more pronounced effort from the Tigers who will want to avenge their last Saturday's loss,” said coach Marc-Andre Côté. “It will be a different game and we will have to be ready. We haven't seen the X-Women yet, but they are a team that works hard, is fast and gives us good challenges.”
The Aigles Bleues continued their training this week to improve the defensive system, winning the battles at 1 against 1 and 2 against 2 in certain aspects of the game. They have also been working on the power play that is currently lacking.
