Hockey: two games for the Aigles Bleus in Nova Scotia

The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus will travel to Nova Scotia this weekend for two Atlantic University Sport men's hockey games.

On Saturday, Moncton (2-0-0=4pts, 1st position) will be in Wolfville for a game against the Acadia University Axemen (1-1-0=2pts, 4th position) at 7 p.m. In a rare Sunday evening game at the same time, the team will be in Halifax to face the Saint Mary's University Huskies (1-0-0=2pts, 2nd position).

“Playing on Saturday and Sunday doesn't change much in our preparation’’, said coach Derek Cormier. “However, some players will have to be at their classes early on Monday morning. We are looking to claim two more wins and build on our momentum from last week. We played against Acadia in the pre-season, and this will be a first time against the Huskies. We aim to make fewer mistakes than our opponents on the offensive and keep the puck on our sticks as often as possible. Our game will be simple, quick, and smart. ‘’

The Aigles Bleus’ defense has done well in the first two games, despite the numerous shots on goal against goalkeeper Étienne Montpetit. “We closed the center of the ice, and the shots came from the sides.”, added coach Cormier. “We are doing our job with 6 players on the ice, including our goalie.”

The Blue and Gold is ranked 9th in the country by U SPORTS this week.
