Volleyball: Aigles Bleues at the Montreal Cup
It is in Montreal this weekend, at the Coupe Montréal Cup, that the members of the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues in women's volleyball will have the chance to prove themselves by participating in a preseason tournament against teams from Quebec’s Cégeps (college system).
This will be the first opportunity for Joline Richard's team to play preparatory matches. Another tournament will be held in Halifax in mid-October prior to the start of the Atlantic University Sport regular season in late October.
“We’re excited to have our first big trip in a few years,” said coach Joline Richard. We want to see how we progress in our training and these will be our first games. We will be working on the cohesion of our players and as a team. There is still a month before the start of the regular season, and we’ll have the chance to make the necessary adjustments. It will be an interesting return to competition after several months. We'll also get to see the caliber of collegiate play in Quebec."
The Aigles Bleues will face Cégep André-Laurendeau on Friday at 6 p.m., Bois-de-Boulogne on Saturday at 10 a.m. and Édouard Montpetit's Lynx at 4 p.m. and Sunday against Louis-Garneau at 10 a.m.
The team leaves early Friday morning and returns Sunday following the game. There are two rookies on the roster this year.
