Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus coach Judes Vallée is pleased to announce that Thomas Pelletier, 20, has signed his U SPORTS letter of intent to line up with his team for the upcoming Atlantic University Sport men's hockey season.

A 6-foot-3-inch, 200-lbs Quebec City defender, he currently plays with the QMJHL's Val-d'Or Foreurs.

“I enjoyed meeting some of the Aigles Bleus hockey staff,” Thomas Pelletier said. “I had good feedback on their hockey program and the whole history of the team. They take good care of their players and make sure their players are treated well.”

He intends to provide reinforcements defensively and help the team go as far as possible in the playoffs. He made his skating debut at the age of 3 and has been playing since the age of 5.

“I'm reliable defensively, I'm a defender who has a good first pass,” added the tall defender. “I have a good sense of the game and I take pride in defending my zone. I also have a good shot that allows me to contribute offensively.”

Robust play, mobility and speed of execution are points he wants to improve. He will pursue studies in psychology. He knows Rémy Anglehart, Edouard St-Laurent, Alexandre Couture and Dorian Laganière well and many acquaintances of former opponents in the QMJHL. He is aware the caliber of play is robust and can be comparable to that of the East Coast.

Pelletier played two and a half seasons with Val-d'Or and two and a half seasons with Drummondville Voltigeurs. He played 255 games in the major junior during the regular season. He has 8 goals and 17 assists for 25 points this season and totals 24 goals and 67 assists for 91 points in total.
