2 players sign their letter of intention to play with the Aigles Bleus

A player from the Val-d'Or Foreurs and one from the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League have signed their letter of intent from U SPORTS to line up with the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus men's hockey team for the 2022-2023 Atlantic University Sport season.

The two 20-year-old players are Jérémy Michel of the Foreurs and Frédéric Dion of the Voltigeurs.

Jérémy Michel, 20, is 6 feet tall, 170 pounds. Born in Lévis, Quebec, the right winger played five (5) seasons (2017-2018 to 2021-2022) in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He was drafted by the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League in the 7th round, 217th candidate in 2019. In 275 games with Val d'Or, he has a record of 75 goals and 123 assists for 198 points. His record this season is 26-40=66 points in 47 games. In 15 playoff games, he has 9 points with 5 goals and 4 assists.

“The Aigles Bleus are a great organization both on the hockey side and academically,” said Jérémy Michel. “I intend to help the team win national championships. I've been playing hockey for 15 years and my strengths are my skating speed and my shot. I hope to improve my physical game. I know the caliber of play in the Atlantic is very good and very competitive.”

Jérémy will pursue studies in kinesiology, and he knows some present players, including Édouard St-Laurent, Alexandre Couture, Étienne Montpetit and Nathaël Roy. He is also a golfer.

Jacob Dion, 20, is 5 feet 10 inches tall, 180 livres. Originally from Sherbrooke, he lives in Stoke, Quebec. The defensive player can pass accurately.

"I'm aiming to help the hockey program win games," said Jacob Dion. “I've been playing for 15 years, and my strength is on the offensive. I want to work on my physical game. I know coach Judes Vallée, and I played with Rémy Anglehart.”

Dion played three seasons with the Voltigeurs, 152 games in the regular season with a record of 35 goals, 85 assists for 120 points. In 49 games this season, he has 15 goals and 29 assists for 44 points. He has one assist in 3 playoff games.

Dion has played for several seasons in the sport of lacrosse and is looking forward to getting acquainted with the university caliber of hockey. He is enrolled in the criminology program.

“These players who will be able to leave their mark with the Aigles Bleus,” stated coach Judes Vallée. “Jérémy Michel and Jacob Dion will certainly be able to help the offensive squads. I can't wait to see them in training later this summer.”
