The Université de Moncton is Saddened by the Death of Paul L. Bourque

It is with great sadness that the university community learned of the passing of Paul L. Bourque, former Chair of the Board of Governors.

“The administration of the Université de Moncton and the entire university community are saddened that a tireless leader, friend and volunteer has left us. Everyone joins me in offering our deepest condolences to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, former colleagues and friends,” said Dr. Denis Prud'homme, President and Vice-Chancellor of the Université de Moncton.

Mr. Bourque was a member of the Board of Governors for 26 years, from 1972 to 1998. He also served as Chair from 1983 to 1989. He has served as a member of several committees at the Université de Moncton: Finance Committee (1973-1989), Audit Committee (1980-1989), Joint Planning Committee (1983-1989) and as Chair of the Executive Committee (1980-1989).

Mr. Bourque is a native of Memramcook, New Brunswick. After completing his education in his hometown, he attended Université Saint-Joseph where he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He later obtained a Master of Commerce degree from Université Laval. From 1955 to 1961, he was a part-time professor of auditing and financial mathematics at Université Saint-Joseph.

A respected accountant, Paul L. Bourque was closely involved in the progress of the Faculty of Administration for over 30 years. His contribution was exceptional. On May 19, 1990, the Université de Moncton awarded an honorary doctorate in accounting to Paul L. Bourque.
