Women's hockey: the Aigles Bleues-X-Women game promises Wednesday
The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues will be in Antigonish, Nova Scotia on Wednesday to face the St. Francis Xavier University X-Women in the Atlantic University Sport women's hockey single-elimination game.
The time for the playoffs has arrived and Marc-André Côté's troupe says it is ready for this new challenge, a new season. The blue and gold finished the regular season in 6th place with a record of .500, 10-10-1-1=22 points. The X-Women finished in 3rd place with 15-6-0-0=30 points. Moncton scored 40 goals and allowed 51, a difference of 11. The X-Women have numbers of 89 and 43, a difference of 46. Their offensive stood out well. The X-Women won both games between these two clubs in the season, 6-3 and 4-0.
“We recognize the importance of this game,” said coach Marc-André Côté. “It's a good and big challenge for us, but we're ready. Our victory on Saturday gave us good confidence. A team does not have a big margin of error in such a single game. We know the environment and we'll see what happens.”
“We have more energy for Wednesday's game,” added Erica Plourde. “Our victory on Saturday was achieved with all the players and we will do the same on Wednesday.”
