The Université de Moncton's Aigles Bleus still have a faint hope of finishing sixth in the final standings in Atlantic University Sport men's hockey with their last two regular schedule games this weekend.

The Dalhousie University Tigers (21-11-9-1-0=23pts, 3rd position) will be the visitors Friday and the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men (21-16-5-1-0=33pts, 2nd position), Saturday, both games at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena. The task is not easy for the last position team against two of the top three in the conference. Moncton is 3 points behind Acadia University's Axemen (21-7-13-0-1=15pts), in 6th place.

Season ticket holders must use January 14 tickets (Dalhousie in Moncton for Friday, March 4) and use the January 15 tickets (StFX in Moncton for Saturday, March 5).

For rookie defender Alexis Arsenault, “I won't hide it, I went through a big adaptation at the beginning, but the veterans helped me a lot,” he explained of his season journey. “It's a very different caliber from major junior. At the end of the week, we want to prepare for the playoffs with two big games. The team wants to arrive ready for the playoffs. Defensively, we will have to sacrifice ourselves, block shots and raise our game a notch. I have gained maturity and experience and I have less pressure on my shoulders. We want to finish on a more positive note with a big end of the season and the honor of winning both games.”

“We won't focus on the result for these two games,” said head coach Judes Vallée. “The results are not there. We will place the importance on the how: how it will happen, how we will react and what message we want to leave. We still have opportunities this season. We are there and we are looking for a different mentality. We have been unpleasant for our fans; we will control what happens now. We need benchmarks for the playoffs with these games. We had excuses at the beginning of the season with injuries and now there are no more excuses, and the results are not there. We will see a difference this weekend.”

The Tigers won their last game, and the X-Men have a streak of six wins in a row. Moncton has lost its last 7 duels. Note that all seven teams qualify for the end-of-season playoffs. Moncton and Acadia will play a suicide game next week to determine which team will qualify for the quarterfinals.

Spectators are welcome at the games and will be required to always wear a face mask except when eating or drinking liquid inside the arena. Proof of vaccination is no longer mandatory.
