Second edition in New Brunswick of the international event

Initiated in 2016 by the Institut Français, the Night of Ideas celebrates the free flow of ideas and knowledge between countries, cultures, disciplines and generations. Ten virtual Nights of Ideas events are organized in Canada, including Moncton and Halifax, around the theme "(Re)building together".
For its second edition, the Night of Ideas in New Brunswick is presented by Acfas-Acadie, the Alliance Française de Moncton, the Chaire Senghor en francophonies comparées, the Consulate General of France in the Atlantic Provinces, Resurgo Place (Moncton Museum), the Université de Moncton, Radio-Canada Acadie, TomorrowLAN Production, with the support of the Embassy of France in Canada.

A program blending debate and artistic performances

11:30 am - Day of Ideas, student roundtable (in french) presented by Acfas-Acadie
Students from the Université de Moncton will discuss the theme "(Re)building together" based on their field of study: Claudie Ringuette (public administration), Emilie Savoie (engineering and environment) and Onitriniaina Rakotorahalahy (environment). The discussion will be moderated by Arnaud Scaillerez, professor at the Université de Moncton and member of Acfas-Acadie.

7:30 pm - Artistic presentations (bilingual) presented by Resurgo Place (Moncton Museum)
Six artists, selected through a call for proposals, will interpret the theme by presenting videos specially created for the event: Chantal Baudouin, Nid (Contemporary dance performance); Shivanya Ra, Disjunction and the Reimagined (Collection of mixed media works: painting, drawing, collage); Joette Lavoie, Life as a senior: We have arrived (Poetry reading); Lucia Choulakian, Consequat (Photography series); Sébastien Labrunie, Milamugsit (Digital animation); Laure Bourdon, Secret de longévité (Slam poetry performance).

8:00 pm - Roundtable (in french) presented by Acfas-Acadie, the Chaire Senghor en francophonies comparées de l'Université de Moncton and Radio-Canada Acadie. "(Re)building together, Covid-19: how to (re)think together the "world after"?"
This roundtable aims to identify the milestones that outline this "world after", evoked from the first lockdowns. The pandemic was for all of us a moment of rupture that forced us to become aware not only of the indispensable character of our freedoms but also of their sine qua non conditions (solidarity, mutual aid, collective mobilizations, etc.) to face the social challenges. Here we are now, heading for the "after". How can we overcome our apparent collective powerlessness and face this real ultimatum that reality seems to be sending us?
Four academics will propose such a reflection on these global issues, in order to try together, locally, in the night, to illuminate the path that we could collectively follow: Alain Deneault, Professor of Philosophy at the Acadian Peninsula Campus of the Université de Moncton, Jalila Jbilou, Professor of Public Health at the École de psychologie and at the Centre de formation médicale du Nouveau-Brunswick, Chedly Belkhodja, Professor of Political Science at Concordia University's School of Community Public Affairs, as well as Pierre-Marcel Desjardins, Professor of Economics and Director of the École des Hautes Études Publiques at the Université de Moncton. The discussion will be moderated by Janique LeBlanc, journalist at Radio-Canada Acadie.
