The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues have recruited four players from the province for the 2022-2023 Atlantic University Sport women's soccer season.

Adèle Roy of Shediac, Jessie Landry and Myakim Nimat of Dieppe and Aleksis Roy of Moncton have signed their U SPORTS letter of intent to attend the Moncton campus in September. They are grade 12 students.

Adèle Roy, 17, is 5 feet 1 inch tall. Originally from Fredericton, she played with AAA Soccer Nouveau-Brunswick teams. “I'm looking forward to competing with the Aigles Bleues and Atlantic University Sport," she said. “I wish to play 5 years. I want to promote my passion for soccer in my community. My positioning on the field, my speed and discipline are my strengths. I have been playing for 9 years. I want to improve my 1 on 1 skills on the field, take more risks and better my decision-making during games.” Roy plans to pursue studies in psychology.

Jessie Landry, 17, is 5 feet 3 inches tall. She attended the Soccer NB High-Performance Academy and played with provincial and Dieppe teams.  “Playing for the Aigles Bleues has always been a dream,” she said. “I want to give my 100 percent to the team and help them progress. My strengths are my vision and my determination.” She has been in this sport since the age of 7. She wants to improve her speed as a midfielder. She will study in primary education. She is a hockey player with the Mathieu-Martin Vedettes.

A three-year member of the Moncton école L’Odyssée hockey Olympiennes, 17-year-old Aleksis Roy is also a soccer player. Measuring 5 feet 4 inches, she lives in Moncton, but is originally from Campbellton and grew up in Bathurst. She is a member of Soccer New Brunswick's High-Performance Academy and the Codiac AAA Soccer Club of Moncton. “It's a great opportunity to play the sport I love at the university level,” she said. “The Aigles Bleus are a well-knit group as a family. I want to evolve with the team during my years at the university. My strengths are my speed, my power, and my work ethic. I have been in this sport for 13 or 14 years. I want to improve my reaction speed, the strength of my shots and fielding the long ball.” Her field of study will be in kinesiology.

Myakim Nimat, 17, who is 5 feet 9 inches tall, is originally from Quebec. She is a member of the New Brunswick High-Performance Academy and Soccer NB and Dieppe teams. “I want to play with the Aigles Bleues because I wanted to be in a familiar environment and with people I have played with,” she said. “I wish to improve a number of my game’s aspects. I can defend with an aggressive play. I have good soccer sense; leadership and, I am positive.” She has been playing this sport for 8 years and wants to improve her footwork. She plans to pursue studies in biochemistry.

Head coach Mehyar Zekaroui is happy with the recruitment of these four players who should bring a lot of energy to the team next season.

“Myakim Nimat is a central defender who stands out for her fighting spirit, strong in coverage and in the aerial game,” Zekaroui said. “Jessie Landry is a versatile midfielder, with a fairly balanced profile between her offensive and defensive qualities. Aleksis Roy is a versatile player with her physical qualities and remarkable speed. Adèle Roy is a corridor player, defender, or striker. Calm with the ball, she manages to combine with her teammates to participate in the game’s strategies or to offer the last pass to advance.”
