Two Nova Scotia Road Games for the Aigles Bleues
Mid-season is coming this weekend for the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues that will play two road games in Nova Scotia in Atlantic University Sport women's hockey action.
The St. Francis Xavier University X-Women (8-4-0-0=16pts,3rd position) will host the Marc-André Côté coached team (4-7-0-1=9pts, 7th position) on Friday in Antigonish. Saturday in Halifax, it will be a ranking battle against the Dalhousie University Tigers (3-6-2-1=9pts, 6th position).
“We focused on our defense and also on the offense to score goals this week,” said Aigles Bleues mentor Marc-André Côté. “We have only scored 3 goals in our last 4 games. We must find a way to score. You can't win like that. The teams are partying in front of our net, and we are too nice in front of the opposing goalkeeper. We have to place people in front of their goalkeeper and shoot often.”
The Aigles Bleues will play their 13th and 14th games of the regular season out of 28 and a battle for the sixth and final qualifying position for the end-of-season playoffs is coming.
“The X-Women have a very good team, but we played very well against them last time at 5 against 5,” added Marc-André Côté. “We were undisciplined with penalties that cost us the game. Against the Tigers, it's like a playoff game to climb in the standings.”
The game on October 30 was the last time the Aigles Bleues scored multiple goals in a game, and it was against the Dalhousie University Tigers, a 3-2 win. The weekend promises for the Aigles players who will take the opportunity to participate in some team activities.
