Volleyball: Aigles Bleues begin regular season
The 2021-2022 Atlantic University Sport volleyball season kicks off this weekend and the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues play two games against the Acadia University Axewomen.
The Blue and Gold travels to Wolfville, Nova Scotia, on Saturday for a game at 2 p.m. with the return match Sunday at the same time at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud gymnasium of the Moncton campus.
“We have lots of energy and are in development, but we are also competitive, and we can't wait for the beginning of the season,” said coach Joline Richard. “We met the specific goals of our pre-season games, and we can only get better. We have a very young team, but with lots of talent. We will be very competitive. »
Team captain Cassidy Martin expects close games. “We want to increase the tempo and up our game,” she said. “We played some big games in preseason play, and everything is fine. We have a great team, the chemistry between the girls is amazing with good communication for strategies and tactics. We are ready for Saturday and Sunday. We have the energy, and we want to give everything for our fans.”
Members of the 2021-2022 edition will be introduced in a short ceremony before Sunday's game at 2 p.m. There are 9 women in first year, 4 in second, 2 in third and one in fourth.
Spectators are admitted to Sunday's game. However, a face mask must always be worn properly in the CEPS, except when drinking or eating. It will also be necessary to show proof of double vaccination and a government identity card before having access to the CEPS.
