The return games between the Université de Moncton Aigles and the University of New Brunswick Reds will be played Saturday in Saint John in Atlantic University Sport women's and men's soccer.

Last Sunday in Moncton, the Reds (3-5-2=11pts,7th position) defeated the Aigles Bleues (0-9-0=0pts, 10th position) 2-1 in the women's game while the Aigles Bleus (4-4-1=13pts, 7th position) blanked the Reds (5-4-1=16pts, 3rd position), 2-0 on the men's side. While the women Aigles are eliminated from the AUS championship tournament, the men's Aigles still has a good chance of qualifying.

With three games left to play, Moncton can still climb into 6th and last place for qualifying for men. Only five points separate the 8th to the 3rd position teams and the weekend could be decisive for some with a win that gives 3 points.

“Our goal is to win this game against the Reds,” said men's coach Younes Bouida. “We had a busy week with academic tests. We had to find time to prepare for this big battle. We want to confirm our Sunday victory to prove it was not a coincidence. We have a good start to a generation for the Aigles Bleus. It will be necessary to fight, not let go of anything and work for each duel. Every moment is important in the game, we have to stay focused, accept to defend and take our chances.”

Veteran defender Thomas Maillet points out that the game could be the most important in a while. “We won and we are on a good road,” he said. “UNB will look to avenge, so we will have to be ready. We always have things to improve to take the three points. We've made good progress this season by scoring more goals and we need to create our chances. Defensively, it's going well, we're going to work hard and hope it will continue.”

The Reds are still looking to qualify, and the women's game will not be easy for the Blue and Gold. “We are still looking for that first win or at least a first point in the standings,” said Aigles Bleues coach Mehyar Zekaroui. “Following Sunday's game, we made adjustments for this return match. There won't be much change in both teams. Our goal is to correct the details and see what we can do best. The players had a good game and I hope to replicate the same performance.”

“We should play well,” added veteran defenseman Alexandra Roy. “We know what to expect. We will have five defenders and be ready. We need to keep our focus, play our game, and play as a unit.”

Moncton will complete its regular season against the Memorial University Sea-Hawks on October 29-30 in St John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.
