With only three days of rest, the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (0-2) will make a remarkable return to the ice at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. by hosting the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers (1-1) in an Atlantic University Sport women's hockey game.

Marc-André Côté's Blue and Gold team is still looking for its’ first win of the season. "It's a good challenge that comes up Wednesday night after only three days since our last game," said the head coach. “It's probably good to resume quickly like this. We lost our first two games by a goal. We should have won these games. The expected result is not the one we experienced. It will take 60 minutes of solid play to win because the Panthers are the only team guaranteed to participate in the national tournament this year. The game should be fast and physical.”

Audrey Berthiaume will be in front of the net and all the players are available for the game. The Panthers will host the Canadian University Championship in March. Defender Pascale Lebeau is one of the players who must show leadership this season with the team. "We certainly want to get our first victory," she explained. “In addition, we want the two points because we play at home. To win, we need to work hard with intensity for three periods. We must also rely on our speed.”

Good communication will be required on the ice, on the bench and between periods among the players to ensure unity on the ice. "We need to talk to each other and make corrections to plays that don't work," added Pascale Lebeau. “We also need to adjust on the ice to our plays. To score, we need to go to the net and shoot well. We must also blind the view of the opposing goalkeeper in front of the net. As a defender, a good and precise shot on goal is a necessity. We have to work like a unit on the ice.”

Spectators will be admitted for the Wednesday game. However, the correct wearing of a face mask is mandatory throughout the arena, except when actively eating or drinking. It will also be necessary to show proof of double vaccination and a government-issued ID card before entering the arena.
