Soccer Aigles Bleus add five new players

Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus are adding five new rookies for the 2021–2022 Atlantic University Sport men’s soccer season.

Dave Guichard, from Guyane, Plamédie Kasongo, of Moncton, Bilal Chebihi and Malik Abu-Dieh, from Ottawa, and Nadji Rebai, from Montreal, are the players that have signed their U SPORT letter of intent to wear the Blue and Gold uniform under head coach Younes Bouida.

Dave Guichard, 20, is 6’4’’ (196 cm) and weights 159 lbs (72 kg). A central defensive player from the French Guyane, he plays for Asc Remire. He has been playing soccer for nine years and will pursue a business degree in accounting. “I decided to play for the Aigles Bleus because Younes came to a tournament in Guyane,” said the young athlete. “I did not hesitate to accept the offer when he explained the possibility of being a student/athlete in Canada. I have a particularly good sense and able to use my head to play the ball. I wish to improve my recovery mode skills. Soccer has been my favourite sport since a noticeably young age.”

Plamedie Kasongo, 18, measures 5’10” (155 cm) and weighs 150 lbs (68kg). Originally from the Congo Democratic Republic, he is a student at l’école L’Odyssée of Moncton and a member of Soccer NB High Performance Academy from 2018 to 2021. A player for seven years, he will study in criminology. “I always wanted to become a member of the Aigles Bleus since a very young age,” Kasongo stated. “Playing for the Aigles enables me to stay close to my family. I am known for my speed and my dribbling on the field. I wish to become a better scorer at the university level. Soccer is something especially important in my family, it is a passion that provides joy.”

Bilal Chebihi, 18, measures 5’7’’ (176 cm) and weights 141 lbs (64 kg). A winger or lateral defensive player, he is originally from Béjaïa, Algeria. He plays for the Ottawa St-Anthony Futuro Club and has been playing for 13 years. He will study business management. ''Compared to some other universities, my first contact with Younes Bouida went well and he made me feel like I should play here,” he specified. “He spoke about the future development of the team, and I saw how serious he was to develop soccer at l’Université de Moncton. His passion and determination for the sport and getting the best from his players influenced my decision.” Bilall is a creative and polyvalent player on the field and makes intelligent and rapid decisions. He enjoys simple plays and offers various moves with the ball. He can force opposing players to make decisions when they are in possession. He plays well defensively and offensively and plans to work on his physical strength.

Nadji Rebai, 19, measures 6’2’’ (1m90) and weights 183 lbs (83kg). Originally from Algeria, he plays midfield and is a player with the Fabrose team. Playing soccer for 10 years, he will study in electrical engineering. According to Nadji,“ coach Younes did a fine job of informing me about the academic and sports advantages at Moncton and I was sold. I am a determined player that plays with intensity with a particularly good defensive mind. I wish to improve play with my weak foot and directional changes. Soccer is more than a team sport. With time, the team becomes family and brothers. You must play all games with passion and determination to get results and that is how I fell in love with the sport.”

Malik Abu-Dieh, 17, measures 5’9’’ (182 cm) and weights 145 lbs (66 kg). A mid offensive player, he hails from Palestine and lives in Montreal. He plays for the Ottawa West Club and has been active in soccer for 10 years. He expects to study in social sciences-political sciences. “Following my first contact with Younes Bouida, he immediately persuaded me that Aigles Bleus program was quite different from other universities,” said Malik Abu-Dieh. “I enjoyed his explanation of the development stages along with the facilities and planned services offered to Aigles Bleus athletes which make Moncton the place to be in Canada. I am counting the days since signing my letter of intent to begin my journey with the Aigles Bleus.” A very skilled player with creative plays and strong work ethic defines this athlete. He is technically sound with an explosive performance and enjoys the game. He can pass, finish plays and dribbles the ball well. He is looking forward to working on his defensive skills. “I have been playing soccer in professional environments for many years and my mental capacity is a key element of my play. You never begin as the best player on the field. I was the youngest player on many teams. The joy and love of the sport are the reasons I play. I always play with a smile, and I appreciate the process.”

According to coach Younes Bouida, “these players will be key elements of my club. They are incredibly good defensive and offensive additions. Their varied top-level soccer experiences and football baggage will bring profound plays to our team. They have speed and can progress rapidly. They are young players with ambition and possess good techniques. They have potential, excellent work ethic and are hard-working.”
