Lianne Desforges, an 18-year-old Ontario centre player, signed her U SPORTS letter of intent to wear the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues jersey for the upcoming 2021-2022 Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey season.

Born in Livonia, Michigan, she grew up in the Clarence-Rockland area of Ontario. The 5′10″ athlete played with the Intermediate Junior Lady Grads last season. She has been playing hockey for 14 years and will pursue studies in social sciences with a major in criminology.

“I decided to join the Aigles Bleues so I could play university-level hockey and also develop my hockey talent,” stated Desforges. “I have a particularly good understanding of the offensive and defensive roles in various zones. I am a player that offers her maximum in forecheck and backcheck situations. I win a high percentage of my faceoffs and play with aggressiveness.”

“Lianne will bring energy to our team,” added head coach Marc-André Côté. “She is a strong skater and a complete player. She will contribute offensively at centre or wing positions.”

The player intends to contribute greatly to the success of the Aigles Bleus in the coming years. Her focus is to possess a more powerful and precise shot and maintain good physical conditioning to become stronger. Being a team sport, hockey is her sport because of its competitive nature.
