Janique Lamoureux, an 18-year-old forward from Barrie, Ontario, will join the Université de Moncton women’s hockey Aigles Bleues for the Atlantic University Sport 2021-2022 season.

A member of the Barrie junior Sharks of the Professional Women’s Hockey League, the 5′11″ left winger will study kinesiology at the Moncton campus.

“I wanted to study in French, and the Aigles Bleues have a great organization,” Lamoureux indicated. “Others have told me of the fantastic team spirit and players are really close. It is a unifying team.”

She has been playing hockey for 13 years, and it is her favourite sport, even if she has played soccer, volleyball, basketball, and badminton at school. “Hockey is a very appealing sport where you meet other players,” she added. “There is always room for improvement, at each level. We can always work on our skills and we need to adjust our speed and play at every level. I hope to help the Aigles Bleues with my play in front of the net, show aggressive play and move people around. This summer, I plan to train hard to add muscles and agility. I know the play will be faster. I am also working on my mental preparedness to play and win.”

“Janique brings depth to our team,” added Aigles Bleues head coach Marc-André Côté. “She has a particularly good size with good hands around the opposing net. We are looking forward to working with her.”

The athlete wants to become a sports physiotherapist in the future. She wishes to study all aspects of the human body in relation to sports to eventually pursue a career with athletes in sports teams.
