Université de Moncton Acting to Establish a Healthy Learning and Working Environment

After receiving an independent external report commissioned in response to allegations of misconduct, the Université de Moncton is announcing that it has terminated its employment relationship with the Drama professor who was the subject of the complaints and investigation.

“As an educational establishment, we must take all the steps necessary to foster the establishment of a healthy learning and working environment that is free of violence and harassment. The Université de Moncton intends to be exemplary in the application of its policies. It isn’t just our duty, it’s our responsibility,” stated the President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Denis Prud’homme.

The Université de Moncton thanks those who had the courage to disclose the misconduct and to participate in the investigation, and it invites anyone who has suffered or witnessed unacceptable situations to make a complaint.

Recall that in 2017 the Université de Moncton took the pioneering step of establishing a Policy on Sexual Violence and creating an Ombud’s Office to centralize reports and complaints. The Université also has a Policy Concerning a Respectful Working and Learning Environment and has assistance and coaching resources.

The report will not be made public because it contains confidential information and names of persons. For the same reasons, the Université de Moncton will not be granting any interviews on the subject.
