Bridge Program to Third Year Bachelor of Nursing Now More Accessible

The Université de Moncton’s École réseau de science infirmière (ERSI), the leader in nursing education in French in Atlantic Canada, is pleased to announce that its bridge program allowing licensed practical nurses (LPNs) to continue their studies at the Bachelor’s degree level, will be more accessible starting in the 2020-2021 academic year.

Admission will no longer be limited to LPNs who are graduates of the New Brunswick Community College but will be extended to all LPNs who hold a licence to practice and have a total of at least 900 hours of work experience.

“We are very happy to announce these changes,” said Suzanne Harrison, Director of ERSI at the Université de Moncton. “Among other things, we’ve added three days of clinical simulations and eliminated two theory courses. We hope that by relaxing the admission criteria we will attract more candidates and help to remedy the lack of registered nurses in the province.”

The bridge program is offered at all three Université de Moncton campuses and is two full-time university sessions in duration. It is also offered on a part-time basis spread over several sessions. After completing the bridge program, admissible candidates join students in the third year of the Bachelor of Nursing program.
